Radical feminism is a gift to men | Robert Jensen | TEDx Ruhr University Bochum

#tedxrub2019 #embracetheunexpected #toxicmasculinity

In this passionate talk Robert Jensen challenges the common belief that feminism is a threat to men. He argues that there are arguments from both justice and self-interest to present to men when explaining the radical feminist position, especially in the context of a critique of the sexual-exploitation industries (prostitution, pornography, stripping). In his talk Jensen reflects on his own experiences with (radical) feminism and the role of that feminism in making possible a richer, more meaningful life.

Robert Jensen is Emeritus Professor in the School of Journalism at the University of Texas in Austin, author, founding board member of the Third Coast Activist Resource Center, and part of the team developing Ecosphere Studies at The Land Institute in Salina.
________

TEDx RuhrUniversityBochum was started in 2016 by a group of students enthusiastic about bringing the TEDx format to the Ruhr Area. In May 2019, we turned our TEDx conference into one of the largest TEDx events in Europe organized by students. We connected over 1,000 people at our TEDx event and brought 13 speakers to Bochum who presented their ideas and visions regarding the motto “Embrace the Unexpected”.

„Embrace the unexpected“ is not just a theme, it is an attitude.
It is to look courageously and curiously towards the future and confidently embrace the manifold challenges of our time. To understand the new and unexpected as a learning opportunity for progress and not as a source of uncertainty. Such an attitude is needed in a rapidly changing world, now more than ever.

  1. "Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.
But I permit not a woman to teach, nor to have authority over the man, but to be in silence.
For Adam was first formed, then Eve.
And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.
Yet she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and love and holiness with propriety."

  2. Men, you’re nothing more to women than an amusement park ride with a paycheck, a pension and life insurance. Have fun 😳

  3. Radical feminists are feminists who will hate everyone including men, trans and even other feminists (whom they call pick me's) for not confirming to their toxic ideology. Both the left and right hates them (for totally different reasons) and therefore they are usually confined to their toxic echo chambers

  4. Women and children are valued no matter what.. men are only valued on what we can provide.. is it any wonder that men compete to be the most successful..

  6. Robert Jensen is very well spoken in his talk! you can see so much pushback in the comments from men who are clutching onto the patriarchal values that they've been socialised to uphold. hoping that our future generations will learn to value compassion and empathy over ego and narcissism.

  7. So many fragile men in this comment section yet I haven't seen anyone actually challenge his views in a rational way. Your insecurity is showing bro
